Great News!

I am really pleased that I have found someone to update my website for Cheshire Hypnotherapy.
She is Virginia Anthony at HIA Web design in Manchester. We are creating a great new modern site with lots of clear information about Hypnotherapy and links to social media and my blog too. I say we but really its Virginia who will be doing all the work for me and I'm really excited to see it when its finished. The update has been long overdue and i am sure Virginia will make it all work beautifully! She has already given me lots of helpful advice and i am very much looking forward to my modernisation.

I have wanted to offer Hypno-Skype to clients for some time now because i sometimes get calls from people unable to leave their house due to illness or disability and i think it would provide an ideal support. It might also be helpful for people who find it difficult to fit in therapy sessions due to busy work commitments.

This is a link to my site how it is now

Stop Smoking September!

I have been running a special offer on Twitter and Facebook this month to encourage smokers to book their quit smoking appointments and I'm pleased it has been a great success! I have really enjoyed using Twitter for its wonderful source of information and there are many great supportive local businesses I have to thank for helping me build my followers.

Hypnotherapy and NLP has been proven to be the best way to stop smoking and most people can quit in only 1 session. Hypnosis works differently from nicotine replacement and concentrates on the habit of smoking which is normally engrained in the smokers everyday routines making it hard for them to forget about being a smoker.
Most smokers do actually enjoy the habit of smoking even though they know its unhealthy so it is normally this desire that needs to be addressed. Having nicotine doesn't get rid of the habit and most of the people that come to me have tried all of the nicotine replacement products and counselling on the NHS without any long term success. I use a powerful technique to help remove or reduce the desire to smoke and also help my clients to remain motivated in their goal of becoming a non smoker even through periods of stress. I also address issues of weight gain and over eating which can be a problem for some people after they quit smoking.

Time to Get Back to Healthy Eating

At the end of the summer, after the indulgence of holidays, I am often busy seeing clients who are interested in weight loss. They come to me for hypnotherapy feeling frustrated after years of struggling to lose weight with various diets. Most of the time they have put even more weight back on after finishing the diet. This is simply because most diets don’t address the really crucial issue of emotional eating.

Hypnotherapy is a more psychological approach to weight loss and it can help people to stop eating when they are bored, sad or lonely. I also use proven hypnosis techniques to help my clients with any food cravings so they are no longer spoiling their weight loss by treating themselves too often. Sometimes alcohol has become a bad habit and as it can really hamper weight loss I also work with clients to reduce their drinking.

There are no quick fixes so my ultimate aim is use hypnosis help my clients feel more confident so that they can continue eating normally and naturally. That means eating less and making good food choices, and also staying motivated to stick with healthy eating and exercise no matter how long it takes to lose all the weight.

Mindfullness self hypnosis

This is a simple exercise to improve your general wellbeing

Start by finding a comfortable quiet place to relax switch your phone off and close your eyes.
Just for a minuite concentrate on yourself and pay close attention to what is going on inside your body. Relax all of your muscles. Breathe slowly counting every out breath. Stay in the moment for as long as you can allowing any thoughts to just wash over you.

The Tapping Technique

Help for Food Cravings

You might want to make sure you are in a quiet place to do this as it's an unusual technique but I have seen it work very well many times!

  1. Think of the biggest desire for a food that you can. You might need to come back to this when you actually have the craving in order for it to be more sucessful.
  2. Focus on this craving and then rate your desire for a food on a scale of 1-10, with 1 being the lowest and 10 the highest. This is important so you can have an idea of how much you’ve reduced it.
  3. On a scale of 1-10 how strong is your craving? Remember, if you’re not really craving is not above a 7 come back to this technique later.
  4. Now take two fingers of either hand and tap about 10 times under your collarbone while you continue to think about the craving.
  5. Tap under your eye ten times.
  6. Tap under your collarbone again.
    1. Next place your other hand in front of you and tap on the back of it between your ring finger and your little finger. Continue to think about your desire for food as you do this and each of the steps which follow:
    2. Close your eyes and open them.
    • Keep your head still, keep tapping and look down to the right then down to the left.
    • Keep tapping and rotate your eyes round 360 degrees clockwise, and now 360 degrees counterclockwise.
    • Remember to keep thinking about the food you were craving as you do this.
    • Now hum the first few lines of "Happy Birthday" out loud.
    • Count out loud from 1 to 5.
    • Again hum the first few lines of ‘Happy Birthday’ out loud.

    1. Now on a scale from 1 to 10, what number is your craving at? If it hasn’t completely gone yet, just repeat this sequence again until it does.

    What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnosis is like meditation, your eyes are closed and you feel relaxed. It is a heightened state of awareness called trance during which the conscious mind is suppressed and the subconscious or unconscious mind is more open to positive suggestion. The hypnotherapist is then able to suggest ideas or concepts and positive lifestyle adaptations which then become more firmly planted in the unconscious mind. Hypnotherapy is a safe and natural process that aims to help with psychological issues and correct negative behaviours such as:
    • Phobias
    • Smoking
    • Stress and anxiety
    • Exam/driving test nerves
    • Lack of confidence
It is also very helpful for weight loss and gaining control of your eating habits. Hypnotherapy is used in hospitals for IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) as well as being used for natural childbirth and also as a support to IVF fertility treatment. It can even help you to perform better on the golf course as every PGA player will say that golf is 90% mental and many other sporting professionals use visualisation to improve their game.
